Performance Management Can Be Fixed
A longer version of this white paper was published in the “Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspective on Science and Practice.”
In this paper, we describe a five-step process to reform Performance Management (PM), moving away from intermittent processes disconnected from everyday work to a focus on behaviors that drive performance, like ongoing communications, informal feedback, and development through experience. Concrete examples from Cargill’s PM reform implementation are provided.
